N.Korea Takes On A New Enemy.
North Korea has further cemented its status as a 'rogue nation' by formally declaring "war on the ocean" on World Oceans Day. In total four cruise missiles were fired from the North Korean coastal city of Wonsan, a US defense official told CNN.
At the time this was assumed to be another round of missile testing designed to demonstrate the strength of North Korea and its growing military capability. However, the bizarre truth emerged when a North Korean official spoke about the missile launch on state tv.
North Korean spokeswoman Sum Yung Pun was quoted as saying, "The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has achieved another world first by becoming the first nation to declare war on the ocean. Even on so-called World Oceans Day, the imperialist western forces were unable to prevent our mighty nation from achieving this glorious success. Truly, our magnificent and almighty leader proves once again that no one can get in the way of his iron and god-like will".
In fact, North Korea is merely catching up to an environmental war the rest of the world has been fighting for years. Indeed President Trump's recent decision to withdraw from the Paris Climate Change Accord may lead to higher ocean temperatures that will also have a negative impact on marine life.
