Bored? Watch These Netflix Hidden Gems

By Stacia Bohnert.

Whether it’s a rainy day spent indoors or a classic Friday movie night, check out these five Netflix hidden gems. These underappreciated films cover different genres to suit every taste.

  1. The Imposter - a documentary about a lost person. This film manages to find multiple levels within the police case, making it creepier and more disturbing. Anyone who watches The Imposter will leave the film in disbelief. The story about a lost person becomes so unrealistic and so out of hand, that it makes the film that much more powerful.

2) Rich Hill - Another great documentary. Rich Hill focuses on three young boys and the toxic town they live in. They live in poverty and face many pressing issues, yet they find a way to keep their outlook positive. This is a great film for anyone looking for an inspiring story.

3) Parent Trap - Most people have seen the Lindsay Lohan 1998 remake, but Netflix has the original version available to stream. Hayley Mills stars in the 1961 original.

4) Zombeavers - This horror-comedy combination is as wacky as the title suggests. While college students stay at a lakehouse for the weekend, their fun time is threatened by rabid Zombeavers. It’s both a ridiculous, gory film, but it also satirises the stereotypical cliche ways of storytelling in the horror genre.

5) Tangerine - Tangerine is a unique drama-comedy in the aspect that it was entirely shot on an iphone. This works extremely well for this kind of film. Using an iphone turns out to be a great way of expressing raw and realistic human connections. Tangerine is definitely worth checking out.
